Putin's Russia on the other hand continues to squander its money on moving the rubble around on its new stolen territory. At the same time the market for its only real products continue to shrink. Russia is now a much diminished state, ostracised by the civilised world, counting its friends in the fairweather collection who expect to benefit from the fire sale of Russian assets, or the sale of Russian fuels at knock down prices. Putin's stated goals have failed, NATO is bigger and stronger. Ukraine is likely to join both the EU and NATO. The region of land Russia has managed to capture at great cost is likely to have been rendered worthless, and will be subject to constant attack. It will never be internationally recognised as belonging to Russia, but will remain occupied Ukrainian land. The Russian military has been permanently tainted by its war crimes. It has lost an estimated 30% of its strength, and has been shown to be weak and incompetent. Putin must keep Russia behind its new iron curtain, as he cannot afford for the Russian people to learn of his incompetence and his war crimes. The Russian ships and aircraft are not welcome in any civilised country. It really is not going well for Putin or Russia.
