@c3ku133 it looks as if Putin has lost his chance. The western media thinks Putin will not risk further sanctions with an invasion. Most are predicting putin will be looking for a Russian puppet replacement for Lukashenko.

@Markov092 this is one case where there is no sign of US involvement, US attentions are else where at the moment, and Luckashenko's claim that NATO tanks were massing on the border were just fantasy fear mongering.

@igoring5717 was a similar justification used by Adolf Hitler, when he invaded the Sudetenland at the prelude of World War II. It was certainly the argument used by Putin to annex the Crimea.

@youmad7068 The same could have been said of Czechoslovakia,until the russian tanks were on the streets. It looks as if Putin has been frightened off such a strategy by the threat of more western sanctions. Then there is Lukashenko nonsense that NATO tanks are massing on the border, I suppose its the only thing he can do now Putin is not going to rush to his aid.
