  1. The uk government is simply lying, as all extracted oil and gas will be sold on the open international market. The profits will mostly go to the oil companies. The uk will be forced to meet its oil and gas needs by buying at the international market price. Worse, the UK has failed to invest in fuel storage, so it inevitably has to buy at a preium price, unable to store the fuel when at a lower price. The UK is therefor failing to take advantage of the natural storage that these reserves provide. One can only assume that some in the uk government are in the pockets of the oil and gas companies, why else would they provide extraction licences, when there is no benefit to the uk?
