How many of the fires would not have started if it had been made illegal to cultivate land that had been burned? If the EU was anything more than a corrupt talking shop, it would be cancelling its trade deals with Brazil on the grounds that the trade was helping to destroy the planet. I doubt that will happen as the vested self interest of a rich few will trump ( appropriate word that) the welfare of the planets environment and the survival of the Amazon species. I wonder where the globalist super rich are going to live when they have destroyed this planet.

@Fishingdetudoumpouco maybe the NGOs need to spend some time and money providing the rain forest can produce more wealth when it is standing than when it is burned. All governments with the rain forest within their borders should recognise they do not really own it, they are only short term custodians.

@Fishingdetudoumpouco if the EU trade deal gets cancelled it will cover all of them. The forest is likely to be filled with other thing with exploiting. There must be a better way of using it other than destroying it. The trick is being sufficiently intelligent and ingenious to know how. At the moment so little of it has been explored that the world will not know what they are losing.
