And these new rules will promptly be ignored by the passing into law the UK internal markets bill.

No the UK internal markets bill will blow a big hole in the EU internal market. Effectively the withdrawal agreement will unravel and be ignored.

@bnlbnl8892 that is fine, it will be the first time the EU have given the UK anything. We do not want a deal, writers will do fine if it keeps EU boats out of UK water, the ECJ from have any say in the UK, and the UK free to compete however it wants. Do you really think the UK will honour the withdrawal agreement, if it is of no benefit to the UK. The Irish border is going to leak like a sieve.

@tedcrilly46 you are wrong, the impact of the Irish trade deal have yet to be felt. In any case the eu have backed down on restricting UK imports to Ireland. Should the EU decide to block imports to NI, the bill will be quickly revived. So if you which to continue the milk analogy, I think you will find my prediction has an equivalent life to that of tinned milk. Always on the shelf, ready to use.

@tedcrilly46 No it is still there waiting to be used if necessary.

@tedcrilly46 yes you can, if the EU tries to block imports to NI from the UK, the internal markets bill will be reintroduced. As it is the import control measures to NI are likely to be poorly enforced.

@tedcrilly46 there is absolutely nothing to stop it being reintroduced if required. It is already written, and therefor could be put forward as a new bill, should the EU attempt to stop imports into NI from rUK.The EU would be very stupid to try that blackmail trick again, as the government was prepared to break the withdrawal agreement. As for the rules, they be active, but not enforced very well. It could be argued that the threat of the IMB, concentrated the minds in the EU and was responsible for the EU giving ground in the trade negotiations. This government was fully prepared to leave without a deal and introduce the IMB. At the time there was a good chance of it passing.

@tedcrilly46 No it was not. there is still the opportunity to reintroduce the IMB if necessary, its not my fault the EU backed down, making the bill unnecessary.
