Not true, robots do not pay tax or consume. So replacing workers with robots will either require paying everyone a wage for doing nothing, or watch as the economy grinds to a halt.

@71518 early adopters will make money from using robots. As other employers will still be paying humans a wage. There is no chance that robots will receive a wage, and even less chance they will spend it in the economy. They might be subject to tax, which the user will have to pay. There seems no way that a robot based economy can exist, as it defeats the purpose of robots in the first place. As I said, the only alternative is to pay humans a wage for doing nothing, as money must flow for the economy to work. It is interesting that managers think it will be their work force that will be replaced by robots guided by AI. In practice, it make no sense to replace a low paid human with an expensive machine, it is far more cost effective to sack the high paid manager, and replace them with an AI.

This robots are impressive, but it reminds me of the early days of home computers. These machines demonstrated what was possible, but it was decades before home computers could multitask and thus do useful work. There appear to be two limitations, one a long life power pack, the second is an AI that can perform real world tasks. The first is almost solved, or will be in a few years. The second is still a long way off, as is evident when current AI is compared to that of even insects. There have been claims that robots have reached the intelligence of a pet dog or cat, but there is still something missing, and it is difficult to quantify, which maybe part of the problem.
