The shortage of drivers is a direct result of years of dependence on EU drivers. Post brexit, the UK will be forced to train UK drivers. Ultimately a far better solution than paying EU drivers.

@robinannaniaz9670 you really do not have a clue. The most stable system is independent sovereign nations working together where and when it is to their advantage and not when its not. The uk could not have continued as eu members, it was paying for its membership with increasing debt and the sale of fixed assets. The latter was unsustainable. The HGV driver shortage shows how the UK had developed an unhealthy dependence on the EU, much like an addict and a drug dealer. Now the UK must strive for self sufficiency and find a way to pay its bills, not live on ever growing credit from the EU parasite. Like an addict escaping from their addiction, the process will be painful, but the nation will be much healthier and better off in the long run. Far better to be independent than a slave in the ever more autocratic federalised EU. I would remind you that we simply exercised our right to leave, something not expected of members of the EU or the Mafia, who have a lot in common. For those thinking of joining the EU, I suggest they read the notice over the metaphorical doorway. It says "Abandon hope all you who enter here."

@bca-biciclindcuaxel7527 are they the next prospective members of the eu? That's the trouble with pyramid selling scams, sooner or later you run out of rich new members and end up scrapping the barrel.

@astralxing988 the only thing you are right about is that the driver shortage is the result of brexit. The uk has been bound to the eu parasite for decades, it will take some time to recover from this infection and become independent again. If you would prefer another analogue, the eu acted as the uk drug dealer, it will take time to recover from the addiction.

@astralxing988 you are wrong for a number of reasons; the uk could not afford to continue with eu membership, the uk exercised its right to leave the eu, the uk will be better off in the long term outside the eu. You are deluded if you think the uk had any real control while it was a member, had that been so David Cameron would have gained the concessions required for the uk to have remained a member.

Many farmers have diversified and are producing milk based products, such as ice cream from surplus milk. While there is only so much ice cream needed, there are other milk derived products. The HGV shortage will resolve itself in time, as q result of supply and demand market forces. In the long run, it is better for the economy if drivers are british nationals, this is because they are more likely to spend their pay packets in the local economy. Foreign drivers will export their pay to their country of origin.
