@spaliverpool71 the low value pound will not only stop the UK buying more expensive EU products and services, but it will also make UK goods and services look good value. Ideal conditions for regrowing the UK economy and refocusing it on production.

@jaymcaaa it is questionable if anyone will want to holiday in places like Spain. Climate change will make such holidays very unpleasant, with the heat confining visitors to there air conditioned hotel rooms for most of the day. I wonder how many will die in this year's summer heat wave. I suspect that traditional holiday destinations will be off limits in future as global warming takes effect.

@spaliverpool71 You think global warming is not that bad and you call me an optimist. do a little research: The 2003 heat killed at least 30,000 people caused 13 billion Euros in financial damages. Some estimates put the death toll as high as 70,000. At the time, it was the hottest summer for Europe since the 16th century.28 Jun 2019 As for the effects of the value of the pound, that is not optimism, it is simple economics, and why the eu is so desperate to hobble the UK with a level playing field.

@spaliverpool71 Climate change is now affecting the traditional holiday destinations, making them far too hot for a holiday. The south of France, Spain, and the Med are no longer places to take a comfortable holiday. they are becoming good places to get sun stroke and skin cancer. I wonder how many are willing to spend their holiday cash, to be trapped in a sweltering hot hotel room with the curtains closed.

@Errafri I suppose after the excess deaths of covid, excess deaths from heat stroke will not look so bad, but it's likely that holiday destinations will move elsewhere, maybe further north. I fully expect next summer's weather to be hotter and more unpleasant than the last. The clue is in the wild fires that now follow the sessions around the world, alternating between the US and Australia.

@Errafri no they leave that to the Europeans.

@spaliverpool71 did you miss basic geography at school? It is the mid latitudes that see excessively high temperatures, with the equatorial region becoming inhospitable to life. The temperate zones are retreating towards the poles. What were once holiday destinations are becoming intolerably hot. This will affect both tourism and agriculture. As a clue, the Sahara is not known as a wine growing region.

@spaliverpool71 are you terminally stupid. There is a difference between relative temperature rise and absolute temperature. Yes the temperature rise at the poles is greater than elsewhere, but in terms of human comfort, the poles are starting at a lot lower temperature, where as the temperate zones, particularly the holiday destinations were already at the limits of warmth that is considered comfortable. That will no longer be the case, as will become evident by the increase in the death toll from heat stroke, the wild fires, crop failures, and the water shortages. Unfortunately for you, your arrogance will not protect you from the effects of geography and basic physics.
