  2. @sambaliwingo like the proverbially frog slowly boiled in water, the UK public were tricked into joining with promises that the CE and subsequent EU was just a trade treaty, no mention of political union or federation. The EU then assumed the powers of many international trade and professional organisations on itself, organisations that were once meeting of equal sovereign nations, , effectively the EU creating a closed shop. It is why recovery from the EU parasite infection will take so long. It is the right wing EU sceptics who will create the opportunity to turn back the clock and regain sovereignty for the member states. Even the French, Germans and Irish are beginning to realise the lie of the myth that what is good for one member state is good for all. It is very unfortunate that this must be driven by fascist nationalist, who sympathise with the evil dictator Putin. The explanation is likely that if you push too far one way the rebound is all the greater. The EU federalists, should look to the US to see the future they are creating for the EU. The madness of the rise of Trump and the religious far right was entirely predictable. One might even suspect that the current world chaos was orchestrated by the super rich, who are keen to continue concentrating wealth in the hands of the few.
