  1. The SNP are desperate to become independent of the UK, only to sign over Scottish sovereignty to the EU. An organisation which intends to remove the veto of member states. Border to give away Scottish sovereignty Scotland must give up the money it receives from the rUK and pay the EU for the privilege.

  2.  @hiddenknowledge2012  are you supporting my comment or rejecting it. If the latter I should point out that it is accurate. Scotland will not receive a grant from the UK once it leaves, it will be forced to pay the EU a membership fee, assuming it is allowed to rejoin.itwill be expected to give up its sovereignty to the EU, more so if EU plans for majority are implemented. There are many other disadvantages, Soch as being forced to use the euro. Scotland will not be able to rely on oil as a source of revenue, as the world is moving away from using fossil fuels, so unless Scotland finds a new source of lithium carbonate/chloride in the Highlands, it is going to be very short of cash. Scotland should also be aware that EU policy is that what is your belongs to the EU and what belongs to the EU belongs to the EU. So Scottish fisheries will be open to EU factory ships. Many of the above are reasons why the UK voted to leave the EU. As to Scotland being allowed to rejoin the EU post Brexit, it seems much less likely, with Spain very likely to veto Scotland's application for membership.

  3. @TheFastAndThe Dead no so, the eu will insist that the Scots adopt the euro. This will make Scotland subject to eu fiscal control and inspection. Scotland will be giving up control of its fishing waters, back to eu boats. It will be subject to eu rules and directives, effectively being ruled by Brussels. Many of the devolved powers will be returned to the eu. So the only sovereignty the Scots will have is the ability to leave the eu, while a member there laws and rules will be made in Brussels. Given the moves to majority voting, the Scottish people will not have a say or veto on the rules that govern them. Scotland will be forced to pay the eu membership fee and maybe contribute to the Covid-19 recovery fund.

  4. @TheFastAndThe Dead now you are just being silly. Do you really think the SNP will take Scotland out of the uk if it can't join the eu. Apart from anything else, it needs the eu to govern it. The SNP are not going to give you any options. The problems facing the rUK at leaving the eu are amplified for an independent Scotland.

  5. @TheFastAndThe Dead does Scotland really want to cut itself off from its largest trading partner in order to have a dubious relationship with the EU. I have already listed many of the problems this would entail, but is by no mean a definitive list. Those who wanted to leave the eu where labeled by the SNP as small minded nationalists, but by comparison with SNP rabid nationalists, the brexiteers are very reasonable. It seems that there is significant hypocrisy in the SNP position, UK nationalism bad, Scottish nationalism good.

  6. @TheFastAndThe Dead I think you will find that in the EU Scotland will be required to pay for everything, including its sewage system. Tell me are the products made in England any better distinguished than those made in Scotland, I don't think so, both are part of the GDP of the UK. If we are just talking about labels, Scottish whiskey is identified as such because it is a selling point. I think you are applying a victim culture that can just as easily be applied to England or Wales. I will leave out NI because they too lime to play the victim and thus have their came and eat it. The brexit referendum was voted on by individuals with every vote counting equally, as such it was probably the most democratic vote the uk has ever had. What you are pointing out is that there were regional veriations, on that basis London should be applying for independence and rejoining the EU. The Scots make much of devolved powers, but where is the devolved powers for England? Where is the devolved English parliament? It has suited the Scots and the other nations in the UK, to ignore the West Lothian question, allowing the other nations to have a say in English affairs not reciprocated in theirs. The Scots wanted devolved powers, but they still want the uk grant. More money is spent per capita in Scotland than in England, and then the English money is concentrated in London. The Scots have always claimed they are poorly represented in Westminster, but how Scots have held the two highest offices in the uk government? If having a Scottish PM or Chancellor cannot fix it for Scotland then I do not know what can. Before jumping back into the EU, assuming the eu will let you, it might be worth considering what the eu has dine for the uk economy for the past forty plus years. If we remove the creative accounting that measures uk success by the value of foreign imports we sell to each other, the eu has been slowly ducking the life out of the uk economy, Scotland included. Do you really want to rejoin this parasite? Do you think tiny little Scotland will do any better. It is likely that Scotland will only be allowed to rejoin the eu if it is a net contributor to the eu budget, so the parasite will continue to feed.

  7. @TheFastAndThe Dead the EU and the SNP share a common view of democracy, keep asking the same question until you get the answer you want, and then stop asking. You have failed to address the issue of the English parliament and the English being the only ones not to have a voice. You have failed to address the history of the uk in the eu. Happy to reinfect the eu parasite on Scotland, having just managed to escape from it.

  10. @TheFastAndThe Dead in the case of the eu, it has backward facing teeth. It's far easier to join than leave and the longer you are a member the tighter its grip. It is the codependency of states and the appropriation of institutions by the eurocrats that make it ever more difficult to exit. You say the Scottish people will decide, but only if they are asked again. The SNP will ask until they get the answer they want, and then never ask again.
