EU hypocrisy and myopia, united in supporting of the Irish backstop so the UK leaves without a deal and no backstop. So they will have been united in producing the exact opposite of what they wanted.

@taintabird23 restating the EU position makes no difference. The UK is going to break from the EU codependency policy,we are leaving the EU, what do you not understand in the word "LEAVING". It means we will be a third country or in non EU language, an independent country. The EU has already indicated that it will impose a customs border in the event of a no deal brexit. You cannot force a third country to join the EU customs union or accept freedom of movement or prevent EU citizens being treated like all other migrants. Brexit will result is a dramatic drop in trade between the EU and the UK, which is exactly what the UK needs.

@johnnndoeee674 not sure what you are complaining about. The EU has stated that it will not allow an open border to exist between a third country and the EU. They have not choice but to impose a border, the only question is where.

@taintabird23 A country that allows itself to be dictated to by the EU will not have much respect, nor will one that pays bills it does not owe. As for the peace treaty, it will not be the UK that puts a border in Ireland, it will be the EU. But then the EU has been using the Irish border issue as a blackmail tool from the start.

@taintabird23 let's see what happens when there is a no deal brexit. You may find EU support for Ireland has its limits. The UK will not put a border in Ireland, the EU will.

@taintabird23 not really, the EU has made a habit of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. At the moment it looks as if a no deal brexit will be the result of a failure to agree a deal. The EU will then be forced to impose its own customs border in Ireland or between Ireland and the rest of the EU.
