  1. The French took on the UK share of the company, so this is a french problem. The UK government has already shown it has no interest in the channel tunnel, by disposing of its golden share.

  2. IF the company wants UK government support, it should pay be returning shares. There is no other reason why tax payer money should be spent. Under other circumstances, the EU would be complaining that this amounts to unfair government subsidy. They can't have it both way.
