@rdflower7025 you are confusing politics and religion, not difficult where Islam is concerned given that Islamic countries are organised as theocracies, a form of dictatorship. As I said in my original post, this is about empire building. Its is about uniting as many Islamic countries as possible, not for religious reasons, but as a concentration of power.
The world is busy building power blocks, China, Russia, the EU and the US. Even African nations are seeking unions to form political and military power blocks.
I am an atheists, but it concerns me that so many believe in religious prophecy, as society can make them self fulfilling. The world needs saving from " believers" as they are dangerous.

@rdflower7025 making generalisations is w sure way to upset someone, and that is not my intention. There was a time when Islamic countries were leaders in scientific advancment, but I suspect that religious zealotry brought this golden age to an end, when science conflicted with religious dogma. The American Christian far right have a similar problem with the conflict between geology and Darwinism, against creationism. It is interesting the middle eastern politics spawn more than its fair share of oppressive dictators.
It is also notable that religious zealotry is linked with religious intolerance, suggesting that such strong beliefs can only be maintained if any possible counter theory, often persevered as criticism is ruthlessly suppress.
Like the curse of the tower of Babel, disunity is a reason for not achieving full potential. In light of this, is there are surprise that strong leaders seek to unit the Islamic nations. Unfortunately for them, and maybe fortunately for the rest of the world, extremism is not a recipe for unity, even if it uses dogmatic religious beliefs as the glue. One might wonder if the leaders actually believe what they espouse to their people, or are they simple cynically using religion as a glue. Most religious establishments have been shown to be corrupt at their hearts. Unfortunately for the world religious glue is very toxic, and the reason behind many wars.
