The EU avoids a breakdown in the GFA. The real winners are those in NI who will actually get the best of both worlds, instead of the worst. That is being in the EU and the UK market.

The devil will be in the details, and the agreement will be pointless if the unionists will not accept it, however reports so far appear positive. The agreement seems much closer to what the original agreement should have been, in that the EU, ECJ only has a say in goods that will end up in the EU. There is no reason why the ECJ should have a say in goods going from the EU into the UK. That is, they should not be able to force the UK to accept them, any more than the UK can force the EU to accept goods imported from the UK.

@suburbanyobbo9412 the IRA have linked the GFA to brexit. Brexit should put a border between North and South in Ireland. The unionists have made a similar link for a border between NI and the rest of the UK. A deal that only allows the eu to have a say about imports into the EU via NI is a good deal, provide it has no effect on imports to NI from the rest of the UK. The principle is that the seller can refuse to supply, and the buyer can refuse to buy. I have not read the detail of the new deal, but if reports are correct, it sounds like the deal the UK wanted in the first place. The ECJ should only have a say in the goods that cross into the R of I.
