She was eventually sacked because too many Brummies complained about seeing a black woman on TV. P.S. Many insist to this day that Powell was not a racist.

Fitting. The British had invaded almost every other culture, but insisted on soup, meat and two veg and then pudding. They also tried to keep dressing the same in all climates, including wearing dinner jackets in the jungle.

@danielwarren3138 No, Powell insisted that she was not to be in the studio if he came there for interview, so some pretext was contrived to have her elsewhere at the relevant time.
