So suppose you have to walk all the way along the coast line and since it has a practical basis; walking humans... let that be the international standard approach for calculating distances. And usually we measure that in meters or kilometers or miles... there you have the definition that keeps it both practical and use full..... I mean what is the use of knowing the coastline on a atomic scale..... makes not practical sense, and is purely mathematically interesting, nothing more. why make is hard on yourself ???
