Its not BETAB500 thats a Kinzhal The factor you are missing what is range The BETAB500 is short range weapon This attacks were against targets with long range defenses so its not possible for Russian aircraft to get close enough to use a BETAB-500

@brianwesley28 Its not too intact There are a several factors at play here The missile is air-launched ballistic missile (ALBM) which means it travels at considerable altitude over 50,000 ft. if the missile was hit in the propulsion section , it would lose speed and basically drop out of the sky Depending how high it was , it would lose a lot kinetic energy before impacting the ground Secondly, even though missile travels at Mach 10, it still has to have an armored shell that can withstanding hypersonic speed but still achieve hard target penetration which is why those pictures are legit, the thickness of the case makes perfect sense Another more hilarious hypothesis but honestly likely case is that Kinzhal is basically a poor man missile The external casing is just for show , however propulsion section is from Iskander and warhead is literally a reused BETAB-500 without the booster It would explain why we are seeing what we seeing Russia reused a lot components just to make the Kinzhal which honestly as more and more are recovered is looking to be the case Iskander engine burns out at Mach 6 and what Ukraine Patriot operators are reporting is much slower speeds

@willthecat3861 The BETAB500 is basically a boosted gravity bomb but it doesnt have long range The areas where Russia are attacking with missiles are protected by long range air defense They would smoke Russian aircraft long before they could get in range with BETA500
