Yes they need more air defense equipment but not to protect F-16s Ukraine needs to more ADF so they can generate an integrated air defence system (IADS) using western equipment A fully functioning IADS would shut down Russian attacks completely Ukraine has 37 Gepards., for an IADS, they need at least 100 AN/TWQ-1 Avengers 12, again at least 150 Patriot , 2 systems, the US can easily provide 50 units Aspide 3, again at least 100 IRIS-TSLM, NASAMSs and SAMPT dont exist in the numbers Ukraine needs With enough ADF, the strain would be reduced greatly on ground forces
