@Timberwolf-nl6fr Again false Russia has been upgrading Syrian defenses yet the Israeli is still performing strikes. There both S-300 and S-400 as other modernzied system in Syria which have been unable to deter the Israeli air force
14
@Timberwolf-nl6fr That would false The Israeli airforce has been making extensive use of its F-35I
10
@Timberwolf-nl6fr There are 2 S-400 in Syria S-400 unit was activated at the Khmeimim Air Base in Latakia Governorate second S-400 unit was activated 13 km northwest of Masyaf, Hama Governorate. As stated before Russia has been updating Syria defense with newer models of its SAMs but again not doing anything

@chriseasterbrook9228 Thats not much on the scale of things
4
When has the Gripen seen actual combat ?
3
@perelfberg7415 Thats no much on the scale of things
2
@perelfberg7415 Again false In the past, Israel's enemies received knocked equipment from Russia while the Israelis received top of the line equipment from the US The massive difference in quality was very apparent as Israel completely dominated That hasnt changed, Israel still receives top of the line equipment from the US while its enemies still receive lower quality export You honesty think Syria's knock down MIG-29 has chance against F-15i Name a air force that can match the Israeli's in the middle east There isnt one No one wants unproven platform and thats what the Gripen is
2
@perelfberg7415 :Lets see Yea the Israelis have done some missions but have they been in a near peer air to air encounter? No they have not. So only the older aircraft/platform have done any things worth mentioning with combat experience and that is not relevant for today. you were saying You claimed that Israeli hasnt had near peer air to air encounter. I stated that because they dont have any peers in the Middle East They are the strongest air force in the Middle east by wide margin Like I said the Gripen is unproven platform France got the Rafale action in several conflicts and even managed to use their AASM against aerial target The Eurofighter also has gotten action as well Prospective buyers want to hear real action not traiining Hell if the Ukrainian Air force had gotten the Gripen as tried to back in 2014, we might see it in action

That would be incorrect for dozens of reasons and not even cost effective

The simple fact is there is no case for the Gripen. The Gripen E/F is high end 4.5 however by 2030, Most of the 6th gen prototype will either getting ready to fly, flying or close to becoming operational. By 2040, all should be operational so by 2040, it will be hopeless obsolete The USAF can buy F-15EX because they have multiple assets as well as support from the USN and USMC The RCAF only operates one asset , the CF-18. So why build an asset that will be hopeless obsolete before all the aircraft are delivered To avoid obsolescence issues, they will need electronic warfare. More than what the Gripen can offer The F-18 and EA-18G offer made sense because the EA-18G capabilities makes harder for enemy aircraft to BVR The F-35 on the other hand has very long time before it reaches its obsolescence The factor there is hypersonic weapons. Hypersonic are going to make life extremely difficult for SAM sites So even if Russia or China could break the F-35s stealth ,there very little they could about it
1
@abrahamdozer6273 The fact is that the 6th gen is rapidly approaching and buying 4.5 gen as your only asset makes no sense

@grahamdrew5512 First thats whole point of aerial refueling is for Norwegian air chief Brig. Gen. Tonje Skinnarland said in an exclusive interview with Defense News on Thursday. “That said, our experience operating the F-35 on slippery airfields is that it’s more safe and easier than with the F-16s,” she added. “With the stability of the [F-35] aircraft, it’s easier to take off and land on slippery airfields. … It’s performing extremely well he performance of the aircraft — in general and in Norwegian conditions specifically — is more than expected. It’s an incredible capability. It performs extremely well in cold weather and the sensor capability and fusion is remarkable also when it comes to our challenging environment with the geography, topography and distance,” she said Two years ago, then the commanding general of the Norwegian Air force praised the F-35 performance and handling in Norways' weather which is very similar to Canada's Secondly you are miss mashing information The lack of bases is different issue
