@tobberino The multiple rounds simultaneous impact (MRSI) is common place to western arty The Archer strength is the fact that the can set fire 3 rounds and move in 75 seconds MRSI, doesnt matter when you have precision rounds which allows you to on fire multiple targets

@inteallsviktigt 30 is waste of time when you do the job with 1 round The point of Excalibuer, Bonus Smart 155 is doing the job with as little rounds as needed That many rounds are only needed when you are dropping Dual-Purpose Improved Conventional Munition (DPICM) rounds

@inteallsviktigt How about no Like I said state useless you are using DPCIM rounds, firing 30 HE rounds is waste of time Secondly if you have 30 targets for arty , again DPCIM not HE would be used as they can cover that many targets
1
@inteallsviktigt Thats why you have forward observers calling the shots Sweden doesnt use DPCIM but Ukraine has DPCIM rounds from the US DPCIM are top attack weapons, They may not kill like Bonus or Smart 155 but they will leave the mark DPCIM cover more area and gives the target no time
1
@inteallsviktigt Thats why there mobility kill and mission kill Killing is mobility or able to carry out its mission is still a win
1
@inteallsviktigt Counter fire depends solely on the situation If they are engaging an area where the enemy has counter battery radar and arty The radar is getting an Excalibur round and the arty sites DPICMs rounds But that goes back to proper planning and recon
1
@inteallsviktigt Mind you, that Ukraine was using unitary warheads and was getting no where The addition of DPICM has drastically changed the situation
1
@inteallsviktigt Which goes back to recon Know what you are getting into so you dont get caught off guard Russia has longer range but as Ukraine has shown, its better much useless as they have no way to guide it accurately The precision of the western weapons has been stinging Russian forces badly

@inteallsviktigt Ukrane got DPICM rounds before ATACMS

@iatsd For starters smart munitions circular error probable (CEP) is mere 4 ft while unguided rounds are 490 ft 30 unguided rounds rely solely on the skill of the crew. While M982 Excalibur is far more accurate but expensive. The M1156 Precision Guidance Kit (PGK),address that issue Like the JDAM program, the PGK is kit that attaches to unguided rounds The PGK CEP is under 98 ft at cost of 10K-13K vs the 70K for Excalibur The PGK brings the cost down quick a bit As for Ukraine's use of howitzers, thats going to drop as F-16s start taking an active round

@jonasthesen The problem there is that unguided rely sole on the skill of the crew Even a well trained crew, its still going be 1-3 rounds whereas Excalibur does cost more but its 1 shot one 1 target 90 percent chance with the variant with Excalibur S which is laser guided, as long as target is lazed. 100 percent its cost more but you get more
