Comments by "verdebusterAP" (@verdebusterAP) on "Mojave: Royal Navy launch of largest uncrewed aircraft from carrier" video.
The Mojave equipped with MQ-9s kits would solve a lot the QE class problems for organic of capabilities The MQ-9 can be fitted with the Broad Area Maritime Surveillance (BAMS) payload for ASuW /ASW The Skyguardian for AWACS Develop a 3rd kit for electronic warfare All that would be left is a platform for aerial refueling
2
@@JimCarner The Mojave can carry same kits as the MQ-9

@lmaoroflcopter E-3 and E-7 require a land base or hours via aerial refueling to get on station By having "organic capabilities on hand, they can be launched and recovered as needed Hence why the US Navy operates E-2Ds and rarely relies on USAF E-3s An MQ-9 with Skyguardian for AWACS would massive boost for the UK
2
You have to look at all the cost There is heavy toll on the airframe every CAT and TRAP that they do For the US, its worth the expense The UK not so much As some one already stated, EMALS and the AAG were not mature enough but the UK still should have purchase both and worked on themselves for the possibly of future carrier The UK has full interoperability with the USMC abroad the LHA/Ds , just not the CVNs
1
@1chish They can land on a CVN but can't operate for extended operations. Thats only possible one LHA/D as their decks are specially treated for STOVL As for not buying EMALS or EMCATS Thats going to haunt the UK. The UK likely won't go nuclear with their next carrier so they going have engineer one helluva of power supply to support Hence why buying EMALS or EMCATS would allow them ample to time research
1
@1chish its not a myth EMALS requires a large amount of energy to work Since the UK isnt going nuclear, having time to research will allow ample to refine the technology more For starter, the EMALS is not made by General Dynamics Its made by General Atomics General electric brought Converteam in attempt compete against General Atomics when the UK was still considering EMALS for the QE As you stated , Converteam was working on the UK made EMCATS while General Atomics was offering the US made EMALS So GE purchase was simply power play in case the UK did want electromagnetic catapults for the QE The only thing that General Dynamics does is nuclear propulsion for USN subs Frances next carrier will use electromagnetic catapult, its interesting how or where they get from
1
The QE class wont go CATS and Traps , Buying Mojaves with the Broad Area Maritime Surveillance (BAMS) and Skyguardian payloads as well buying MQ-20s with EW payload is far easier than dropping billions retrofit the carriers The QE lack of capabilities is only resolved by the investing or buying assets. Reconfiguring the ships is just not happening Now when it comes time to replace the QE,, EMALS and AAG should have reached the maturity similar to the C-13 steam cats making it viable But for now, its a no go
1
@FelixIsMyName The QE For but not with design has been severally questioned
1
@@JimCarner They already exist

@@JimCarner AWACS for the MQ-9
1
@@JimCarner The Mojave is designed to everything the MQ-9 but with STOL capabilities
1
@lmaoroflcopter If the UK wants to get the QE class up to the level as the USN CVNs The MQ-9s is the only way to go for their specific issues
