@AA-xo9uw Incorrect its STOVL not STOBAR BAR in STOBAR stands for arrested landing which the F-35B does not do

@fightforaglobalfirstamendm5617 That would be wrong While the QE has problems, they are completely fixable The MQ-9 Mojave which the UK is testing is compatible with the regular MQ-9 kits Thats Broad Area Maritime Surveillance (BAMS) kit aka Seaguardian for ASW/ASuW. There is also AWACS kit in development An MQ-9 with BAMS and AWACS would address those short fall For electronic warfare, there are two options, the first an MQ-20 fitted for STOL with EW kit The other which is more likely is that USMC investment with the Next Generation Jammer program is variant of the pods that can plug and play with the F-35 without any modification besides software updating. As for weapons Again with the UK , its simple investment The USN was working on the JSOW-ER which had 300 mile range with a broach warhead , the USAF is working on the Stand-in Attack Weapon (SiAW) , Boeing working the Powered Joint Direct Attack Munition (PJDAM) and Lastly, the Joint Strike Missile (JSM) which already designed for the F-35A and C models The model for the B hasnt been developed yet. Of course, the weapon can only weigh 1000lbs and has to have a multi-role warhead for various target types )there are those options Or the UK can contract a company in UK to develop 300 mile range weapon able to attack both targets on land and sea targets but able to fit in the F-35B weapons bay The QE does have problems but they can be fixed

@jimfrazier8611 Incorrect The whole point of having long range is so the enemy cant surprise you Thats why the USN is trying to get more range out of ships and AWACS

@thetruthhurts7675 That very true that CVN need extra time but the big extra for CVN is flexibility Due to constraints of the STOVL , the F-35 is limited on what it can use while on ship The F-35B can use weapons 1000lbs or less on ship with no issue Heavier weapons like 2000lbs GBU, JASSM and LRASM present problems for the F-35B but not for CVN aircraft as the CATOBAR but developing lighter weapons for F-35B is a simply investment The UK chose CATOBAR simply because its considerably cheaper on the ship and aircraft and future tech like EMALS wasnt ready for prime time Ironically the Russian put forth a concept of hybrid carrier with both STOVL and CATOBAR which many be something that UK many consider for their next carrier
