  7. @Oliver Jacobsen the uk and the USA haven't suffered a cataclysmic defeat, which would force them to reckon with their past sins, but fortunately their societies are asking themselves some difficult questions, although they're not there yet.

  11. Russia suffers from a culture of innocence. Russians genuinely believe they have never attacked anyone, so whatever happens, it can't be them to blame. Hence; the absurd denials of the massacres in Bucha etc are actually believed, because to accept reality would be psychologically devastating.
