He's quite wrong. Timothy Snyder, professor of history at Yale has made available his lectures at Yale on Ukranian history, and Russia's colonial ambitions there. It goes way back before 1949.

Provoking, Putin said Poland provoked Hitler's Germany in 1939 by not handing over territory. He uses this word a lot.

@georgemcnally4473 like the UK, ekections are suspended in times of war.
5
Support for Ukraine is 84% in the UK. Farage attracts the extremes.
5
@hexagontactical except NATO refused Ukraine membership to allay Russia's concerns, and the major EU economies invested heavily in Russia to build a constructive strategic partnership.. You should think about this.
4
The culture of the Tory party laid bare again.
3
Provoked is the word they like to use, because they know that we know they weren't attacked.
3
Except NATO has never allowed Ukraine to join to allay Russian concerns. Now we see that Russia has a colonial project.
3
Reform attracts 16% support. 16% of British people have extreme views.
2
If he did so, it was good advice. Putin regards treaties as tactical.
2
There's a lot of fascists out there. Farage is an evil man.
1
But we don't. 84% of Britons remember Munich and support Ukraine.
1
What does he respect? That he destroyed Russia's democratic institutions and ensured Russia has the highest income inequality in Europe?
1
It was that word he used, "provoked". Putin used it to justify Hitker's invasion of Poland, and to justify his own bloody invasion of Ukraine.
1
It will be. I'm guessing the cabinet minister is Schapps.
1
It's quite terrifying. God knows where this will all end. The Tories betting on the election are destroying people's faith in democracy. Don't they understand that?
1
It's simpler than that. Farage is a fascist, and so is Putin. We live in dark times.
1
He thinks it's the route to power. Reform is already showing signs of being a cult. I'm glad I'm not young. The future could be very dark if Farage sweeps to power.
1
He's destroyed the institutions which are meant to protect the very good Russian constitution.
1
@tonupharry He'll be aall over the Russian state media tomorrow, like Carlson and Alex Jones. But Russian media won't mention, that Farage is a neo-fascist.
1
Russia is an aggressive imperialist power. It isn't frightened. It took all its defenses from its NATO borders and put them in Ukraine. If you notice the size of Russia, this might give you a clue as to what its leaders prioritise, they call it "gathering land".
1
The far right and far left support Putin because he is antiliberal and antidemocratic, and plays the social reactionary role. Luckily, 84% of Britons support Ukraine.
1
So hate culture wars.
