@jeffs4483 If Russia wanted peace they would have abided by their part in the Minsk peace accord - not to mention their agreements in the Budapest memorandum, of 1994; the Partition Treaty on the Status and Conditions of the Black Sea Fleet, of 1997; and the Russia-Ukraine Friendship Treaty, also of 1997 - in all of which Russia agreed to that Ukraine was an independent sovereign nation. But why did they need to repeatedly get Russia to agree to that? Because they knew (as do you) that Russia could not be trusted. Why do you think that countries are abandoning neutrality in order to join a defensive alliance? It's because Russia is an untrustworthy belligerent neighbour. As they have demonstrated in Ukraine and Georgia. Pledging neutrality would not have prevented war, only becoming a Russian lap dog (like Belarus) would have avoided war. But Russia doesn't want peace. Putin wants to build a "greater Russia" by taking over all the former USSR republics and the former Warsaw Pact countries (he's written papers on it). Russia wants to capture more land - and that's why you Russian trolls all whine "If Ukraine wanted peace, they would have abided by the Minsk 2 peace accords" knowing full well that Russia had no intention of complying, and had Ukraine abided, Russia would have walked through Ukraine in 2015 - instead of it's failed attempt to do so in 2022.

@Balkans73 It seems you are looking out the wrong window. When I look out mine I see a belligerent aggressor has tried to overthrow the leadership of a sovereign neighboring country, without legitimate cause. I see the belligerent aggressor killing the citizens of that neighbor everyday (admittedly at significant cost in Russian lives as well). Maybe you should take off your Russian rose tinted glasses and see Russia for what it really is - an evil state.

Silly person. We all know that Russia will not negotiate (they don't know the meaning of the word). Ukraine is talking with other countries about what might be a fair peace. When they have some agreement, then Russia's "friends" can put pressure on Russia for a fair peace, not one in which aggression is rewarded.

Why doesn't the 2nd most powerful army in the world just take over Ukraine? Because Russia is not the second most powerful military military in the world, and it's rapidly becoming a third world country. And what has the Japanese nuclear attack got to do with this war? Russia, as one of the major Allies, was party to the 1945 bombings of Japan, and would no doubt have dropped the bombs, had it developed atomic bombs first. You are just a silly Russian troll.

@kabuyesteven9101 You are correct, Ukraine has managed to drive out the Russians from Ukrainian territory and Ukraine is winning. The Ukrainian army halted the progress of the Russian army twelve months ago. Since that time the Russian army has been unable to capture any significant Ukrainian territory. But since that time the Ukrainian army has liberated over 13,000sq km of Ukraine. The Russian army has not captured so much as a single city in those twelve months, but the Ukrainian army has liberated six cities. And Russia has gone from a nation with no foreign military threat, to a country with regular attacks from Ukraine, on it's ships and it's military facilities well with in Russia. So things have inproved for Ukraine, while things have got worse for Russia. I wonder who's winning - and here's a clue for the clueless: it's not Russia.

@dhurjatinarayangiri6995 Poor Russian troops with bullet hole aren't wailing because they are dead. But healthy Russian soldiers are wailing because Putin hasn't paid them for six months. Imagine that, being sent to fight and die in a Stupid Military Operation and your masters don't even want to pay you or your family. But then Russians are used to be treated like dirt - Russian lives are not considered worth anything. You can understand why ALL former USSR republics and Warsaw Pact countries refuse to send troops to assist Russia.

Russia has demonstrated it is trying to create an empire by its invasions of Ukraine, Belarus and Georgia, and its leader's expressed desire to create a "greater Russia" by occupying all former USSR republics and most of Europe.
