@Armed-Forever What makes it a "states' rights issue"? This was the same argument used for slavery, civil rights, and basically any excuse for inaction.

Thomas didn't say that he would uphold Roe. He tried to pretend that he had never even once thought about the issue in his hearing despite being a law student when it came down.

@Armed-Forever [citation needed] Abortions because someone doesn't want a child happen in the first trimester.

@Armed-Forever Check the statistics for actual abortions. Show me the person who waits that long and just decides "whoopsie, I don't want to be a parent." Abortions for those reasons are almost always first term, and the ones that go into the second term for that reason just barely get there, and it's usually a case of a woman who so rarely had a menstrual cycle at all that she didn't realize she was pregnant until the second trimester.

@Armed-Forever Lots of things aren't explicitly defined in the Constitution. The people who wrote it were well aware of the fact that they couldn't imagine every possible scenario. Hence, the Necessary and Proper and Supremacy Clauses.

@Armed-Forever As far as you insisting that the life of the woman should always be a factor, apparently, you aren't familiar with ectopic pregnancy. There is literally zero chance of survival, but if you try to carry, it has a high fatality rate. However, if life of the woman and not health of the woman is the standard, you would then force her to wait until it becomes life threatening, and that is just cruel.

They also used to allow for exceptions for rape, incest, or health of the woman. Basically, what these monsters would allow by saying "only life of the mother" is that, if a woman developed an ectopic pregnancy, which has literally zero chances of making it to term, she would have to keep the fetus until either being forced to push out a miscarriage or until it became life threatening to her. This is vile. EDIT: I missed your mention of ectopic pregnancy, but kept the point about the end result of their position.

@Armed-Forever Show me examples of it happening, then. You yourself admitted that 15 weeks is an arbitrary number. At least numbers in the 20s have to do with fetal development to where the fetus would stand a chance of survival. When abortions of unwanted pregnancies happen in the second trimester, it's because the woman didn't know she was pregnant in the first.

@Armed-Forever What are you talking about? There may be some words that you are missing, but I'm not sure what argument you're trying to make or what you are responding to.
