She started pandering to them when she used anti-democracy arguments to defend the Electoral College. She skipped straight past the "small states need love, too," and jumped straight to arguing that Americans couldn't be trusted with that decision.

@winstonsmith-ministryoftru1609 Their goal is to find pretty women who pretend to be lefties but only help right wingers. Looks like they've found the true heir to Krystal Ball.

They love having people who claim to be left who steer people right. No wonder Ryan Grim didn't last.

Defending the Electoral College because Too Much Democracy Bad didn't do it? She showed her true colors with lightning speed.

@unopine First, there is no such thing as right wing populism. Second, after MSNBC fired her, she started a PAC that was supposed to help lefty candidates, but she put more than eight times the donations in her pockets that she did for actual candidates. She took her mask off after the primary was settled. It was one thing to focus your ire on Democratic candidates during the primary, but the way she went after Bernie proved that her support was insincere. People kept telling me that she attacked both sides equally, but checking her most recent ten radars showed that this was never the case except for the Republican convention. She downplayed the attack on our democracy, and she ignored Saagar Enjeti using anti-Semitic bullhorns on Joe Rogan's show. They are more alike than you care to admit.

@samkhawam9125 It never ceases to amaze me how people hold onto their first impressions of people. The fact that she took weeks rather than the usual slow burn, and people still think she is a lefty, speaks volumes about that tacic.

@fstorm2 For me, I first started questioning her when she used a Democracy Bad argument to defend the Electoral College, when most who defend it never say that part out loud. My last straw came a few days later when I saw a video where she was upset about a Stephen Colbert interview with Tulsi Gabbard. He asked her about her support from David Duke, and rather than say, "it's unfair to judge a candidate by his/her worst supporters," she said, "maybe because he likes peace." I haven't been back since.

@TheLastLineLive If you don't think that this Tucker Carlson protege is a right winger, then their whitewashing mission has succeeded.

@Flexible_photon I think that Alan Colmes is definitely the precursor. He was talented in his own right, but he ended up going into a medium that just wasn't right for him. His radio show was entertaining, and his two books were pretty good. Too bad that there was no room for lefty talk radio and he had to land on the shores of Hannity and LTBD.

@demonhoopa This was relatively early in her show. To have a take that bad told me that she was trying to set a record for going down the grifter trail.

@andywellsglobaldomination "The NASCAR crowd" does not define populism. Populism is not about cultural signifiers, it is about policies that actually help the majority of people. By definition, if you support tax cuts for the rich, you are not a populist. The fake right-wing version is not about rich vs. poor, but about cultural bigotry used to distract people from the real enemy.

@andywellsglobaldomination My master's portfolio was on William Jennings Bryan and the Cross of Gold speech. I think that I know what I speak of in terms of the history of populism. Just because Hofstadter thought that the populists were gross and preferred the more upper class contemporary progressive movement doesn't change that fact.

@andywellsglobaldomination If policy doesn't matter in terms of populism, the term is meaningless. Then again, with hot takes like that, no wonder you say that right wingers are the real populists. The Populists wanted a progressive income tax, a minimum wage, a 40-hour work week, compulsory education, and monetary policy designed to help ordinary people, hence the name.

@andywellsglobaldomination English translation: "My lies have been called out, and I'm trying to save face." Yes, why would anyone study one of the most important speeches of all time and perhaps the only time that a major political party changed its entire course in less than ten minutes?
1
@andywellsglobaldomination Non-American? "It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to talk and remove all doubt." Bryan was born in Illinois, lived in Nebraska, served two terms in Congress and as Secretary of State, and was a three-time Presidential nominee. Just because you don't know anything doesn't mean that such knowledge isn't valuable.

@andywellsglobaldomination And if you know anything about academia at all, you would know that graduate research is incredibly narrow and specialized. How else do you think people make original contributions to the field?

@bslygh I hadn't seen it in a while and thought he was just a temporary guest host. Other comments tell me that he came back [egg on face].

I saw her weeks into her channel. I was concerned with her Electoral College argument, but I left and never came back when she defended David Duke to defend Tulsi.
