After Scalia died, I wanted Obama to pick her for the Supreme Court (a Democratic governor would get to name her replacement, and I thought it would be more difficult for Turtle to stiff someone he saw every day, and since she would have been replacing Scalia, she was pretty much a guaranteed improvement). The last call just brings up something that baffles me. What is the deal with all of these people who think that losing narrowly in a statewide race is a springboard to national office? The last person to gain remotely any traction was Poppy in 1980, and that was ten years after losing a Senate race and holding a bunch of appointed positions in the meantime. The last one to make the transition that fast was Lincoln... the second nominee his party ever had.
