After Scalia died, I wanted Obama to pick her for the Supreme Court (a Democratic governor would get to name her replacement, and I thought it would be more difficult for Turtle to stiff someone he saw every day, and since she would have been replacing Scalia, she was pretty much a guaranteed improvement). Now, I'm glad he didn't.

The last call just brings up something that baffles me. What is the deal with all of these people who think that losing narrowly in a statewide race is a springboard to national office? The last person to gain remotely any traction was Poppy in 1980, and that was ten years after losing a Senate race and holding a bunch of appointed positions in the meantime. The last one to make the transition that fast was Lincoln... the second nominee his party ever had.
