  2. Gold is not an investment. It is just a bet against the government. The fact that people call precious metals an investment shows they don't understand what an investment is. You invest because something will grow. If you buy stock in 10% of a company, and that company grows, that is an investment. An ounce of gold is an ounce of gold is an ounce of gold. What you are doing is price speculation. And anyone with eyes could see a bubble, but not for the reasons your beloved Schiff suggested. When the price to earnings ratio is already higher than during the peak of the dotcom period, and you do things to inflate without addressing fundamentals, of course there is a bubble.
