As someone who is theologically conservative but opposed to this incarnation of fundamentalism (someone in seminary actually told me that if he took what the Bible said about the poor as seriously as I did, he'd be a Democrat, too) is that if you break down evangelicals between white and non-white that you'll see a similar difference. That being said, there are several denominations (Baptists not of the SBC variety, Seventh-day Adventists, Mormons, Mennonites, etc.) who take separation of church and state very seriously. The first defense of it written in the English language was authored by the second Baptist ever, Thomas Helwys.
