@anmolt3840051 No, they're not. Silvio Berlusconi was arrested multiple times while serving as head of state in Italy, and Netanyahu is facing charges in Israel. A lot of the protests going on there is because he is trying to change the law to be above the law.

@t.a.ackerman4098 "Congressional Medal of Honor" is a misnomer. It is simply the Medal of Honor, and it is for combat. The Presidential Medal of Freedom is a civilian honor, so that doesn't really apply. Congress could commission a special award, but this Congress won't because McCarthy is beholden to several co-conspirators.

Also, if you believe senior citizens shouldn't have to live in poverty.
3
@cosmosofinfinity That's pretty open ended, so it's possible.

They were less than 50 feet from Pence at one point. What do you think would have happened had they gotten him or Pelosi? What do you call a failed coup attempt that isn't punished? Practice.

@Dreikoo Complacency is exactly what the fascists want.
1
And how, exactly, is refusing to vote helping to solve the problems that you are trying to solve with your activism?
1
@shadebleu You mean after singing the praises of Steve Scalise for Speaker? Your trolling has to get better than that.
1
@shadebleu But a few months ago, you were saying you wanted Scalise as Speaker. Your gaslighting won't work on me.
1
@christophergreen6595 It's a perfectly fair question. When someone discusses activism, and they then discuss things that seem contradictory to that goal, it is a perfectly fair question to ask? Or did you fall for the right-wing trolling?
1
@christophergreen6595 Well, if it hurts your fee-fees, ask yourself what not voting accomplishes. We live in a time of all hands on deck in order to defeat fascism, so I will not just sit back and applaud when someone refuses to help.
1
@christophergreen6595 The average person won't vote for something bigger when there is a real threat of fascism. A lot of people are afraid to dream at that point. The accelerationists were convinced that Bush becoming President would wake up the Dems to nominate a flaming lefty, but Kerry won the nomination. Even with Citizens United and the Shelby decision gutting the Voting Rights Act, and an open Supreme Court seat being held up by Evil Turtle, the accelerationists still insisted that Trump wouldn't be too bad and it would wake up the Dems. Bernie went from 44% in 2016 to 32% in 2020. And in the meantime, we got Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, and Barrett. If you want to argue it's not a long-term solution, we are in agreement, but it is necessary to defeat the enemy at hand. Even Cornel West said in 2020 that we have to slay the dragon of neo fascism before slaying the dragon of neoliberalism.

Indeed. Pence only did the right thing after trying to find every possible way to justify doing the wrong thing. Even after January 6th, he refused to testify to the Committee and only finally told the truth when he got subpoenaed by the Special Counsel.
1
@frontenac5083 He was limited in many ways by the negotiations of his predecessor. I suppose you wanted to stay in Afghanistan indefinitely?
1
@carnivorepolice5-0 Wrong. Der Orangefuhrer refused to call the National Guard on "my people."

Dan Rostenkowski, Bob Ney and Duke Cunningham both went to jail for bribery. Now, technically, the poor wouldn't really be in a situation to receive such bribes, but it does happen.

Chile was the oldest continuous democracy in South America before 1973. Never assume that it can never happen.
1
@peterrauth118 You also said "with minor exceptions." I'd say that a fully functioning democracy for over a century is a pretty big one.
1
@peterrauth118 It only takes a few.

The instant Ford pardoned Nixon, he affirmed Nixon's statement that "being President means that it's not illegal." You can trace Iran-Contra and the attempted coup directly to that decision. I still think that when Goldwater went to the White House a few days before Nixon resigned that he laid out the deal "resign, and you'll be pardoned; fight it, and you'll lose and go to jail."
1
But why they believe that is a different story.
1
@cy-villian Not really. If you think that you don't live in a real democracy because people who don't look like you don't agree with you and are growing in number, your solution is going to be very different than someone who believes that the problem is that it is too hard to vote and rich people have too much power. Not sure why you immediately jumped to "identity politics," but if you really care about working people, you have to want things to be better for people of all races.
