@twoshedsjohnson8540 She collected Medicare that she only paid into for five years (at the time, even if she maxed out all five years, she only paid about $1000) because she believed that studies that showed the harm in cigarette smoking were propaganda and got lung cancer.

@twoshedsjohnson8540 No, I don't mean forced. No one forced anyone to accept Medicare. In order to prove a political point about evil government Medicare, Mitt Romney turned it down in 2012. I think Dick Armey did the same thing. I am aware that it was started in 1965, but taxes for thr program did not begin until 1966, and she took it in 1971. Hence, the five years part.

@twoshedsjohnson8540 She could have invested $1000 spread out over five years and grew it 10- or 20-fold to pay for her medical needs for 11 years? The lengths people will go to defend a sociopath who turned out to be a hypocrite! Even if all that were true, other leading figures in the libertarian movement refused Social Security and Medicare, even if it meant going into poverty rather than being what Rand called a parasite when referring to others.

@twoshedsjohnson8540 No one said she didn't pay in. You insisted that she only got back what she put in because she "paid into it for her whole life," even though she only paid in for five years. If you believe receiving government benefits is wrong, and then you insist that it is different when you get it (plenty of other people paid into Social Security when she said they were parasites), that is hypocrisy. As far as my ability to think through things rationally, I'm not the one who used the Constituion for my ideological argument out of desperation only to accuse someone of being irrational when that person asked what part of the Constitution backs up your argument. Surely, a rational person such as yourself could answer such a question.
