  3. Because people who have six-figure student loans are going to take longer to have kids and buy a house. Financial instability is also the biggest cause of divorce. Letting people start their working lives at zero instead of in the red will be a huge economic boon.

  5. He extended the Bush tax cuts. He asked for half the stimulus that his advisers told him was necessary and then made a third of it tax cuts. He ended up giving us the Republican alternative to Hillarycare that Bill said didn't go far enough. He refused to prosecute Wall Street after destroying the economy. When it came to Wall Street bonuses, contracts were sacred, but when it came to UAW salary and benefits, "everyone has to make sacrifices" (and people wonder why the Great Lakes turned so red in 2010, and why it doomed Hillary in 2016). Anything else?

  6.  @shesemerald2011  He did some good things, but he never fought when he really had a chance. 2009 called for boldness, but he decided to be timid. And he made the decision even before he took office that he didn't want to prosecute Wall Street. You can't blame obstruction for that.

  7.  transylvanian  Well, from what I have seen, the idea is that the establishment thinks it can co-opt anyone. After all, appointments are key. And his analysis was so wrong on the Supreme Court that it would be impossible to understate how ridiculous it was not to see that McConnell wouldn't let a filibuster stand, and that mistake will haunt us for decades to come.
