@LumumbaKShakur No offense, but I've dealt with plenty of people who don't want to blow up their spot with someone, so I'll take it with a grain of salt. Even if everything that they said is true, this is someone threatening to pull $65 million out of a small town if he doesn't get his way. This is someone indignant that he didn't get a private audience to air his complaints. Even if he is completely correct on the issue at hand, the entitlement and blackmail are not.

@ano1962 Depending on how you do it, UBI can be terrible for people. He also moved to a state where taxes are lower for that very reason, so I doubt he's very committed to those ideas.

@ano1962 And those fees are regressive taxes that don't really matter much to someone who has an eight figure salary. The richest 1% pay on average about 3.1% of their income in taxes. In California, that is 12.4%. On $10MM, that works out to an extra $930,000/year. Yes, Austin is well to the left of Texas as a whole, but he decided, "I want to go somewhere less of my money will go to fix societal problems and stays with me." Joe Rogan is not our friend. For that matter, Dave Chappelle stumped for the UBI candidate.

@Sloimer Saying you're going to pull the money for reasons good or bad is problematic. It is about the point of the problem of an unelected person basically exerting a veto over democracy.
