  1. "In Living Color" had a sketch about this phenomenon a few years ago. There was a recurring sketch called "Why?" In one of those, they asked why people would suddenly break into a Spanish accent just to pronounce one word with Spanish roots or someone's name. As a follow-up, they imagined what it would sound like if someone tried to do that with everything, i.e., pronouncing frankfurter with a German accent.
