@Rampratdelta Nobody ever complained about it when George Romney or John McCain ran. Gee, I wonder what made Cruz different from the others. He is awful, but that is no excuse to repeat dog whistles.

@death299 Cruz moved to the US at age five... one year younger than when Romney did. Again, I am not defending Ted Cruz. He is absolutely horrible. No one should ever vote for him. That being said, I don't think that it's a coincidence that Cruz and Obama are the two in this century who had people insisting that they weren't really Americans. George Romney was born in Mexico in 1905. His parents moved to Mexico to flee polygamy laws, and they moved back during the Mexican Revolution. He was the father of Mittens. He was the governor of Michigan and he ran for President in in 1968.

@death299 What do you think the inherent statement is behind birtherism? And, as legal scholars at the time said, even if Obama really was born in Kenya, it wouldn't matter because his mom was an American citizen. Being born to one parent is sufficient. All "natural born citizen" means is that you were automatically a citizen at birth. If your misinformation really was true about him not stepping on American soil until college, he still meets that standard.
