  1. A few years ago, I wrote a paper where Inargued that Bryan was the beginning of the turn to modern liberalism in the Democratic Party, because he wanted an active government. One argued that I was wrong because Bryan was a populist, therefore couldn't be left. The sad thing is that these were political science PhD students. What are people being taught?
