Indeed. It can be difficult to see these things when you are friendly with people on a personal level. I remember being so excited when Krystal came to Philly to speak. She had the DSA crowd eating out of the palm of her hand. I got an autographed copy of her book and took a picture of her with me and my daughter. Then, a few weeks later, I see this Never Biden nonsense. I still haven't finished the book after realizing that I paid twenty bucks for a repackaging of transcripts of something I can see for free online with a one or two paragraph introduction. It isn't good to realize that you've been had, but its something important to admit when you see it.

@eddietheberniebro5503 Saagar Enjeti is not economically left. Complaining about trade doesn't make you a lefty. Does that make Hawley economically left? Pat Buchanan? Has Saagar started advocating that the top tax bracket exceed 50%? Ruy Teixeira put it best: left wing [real] populism looks at how the rich take advantage of everyone else and want to institute policies to stop it, while right wing (fake) populism finds a scapegoat on the bottom and wants to punish them. There is no such thing as right wing populism.

Looking back, I think it was there all along, but they took the mask off after the primary.
7
Me, too. At first, I thought it was a function of the primary, but I was wrong.
6
Where are the Republicans who are actually trying to rein in corporate power, Ben?
5
Saagar calls himself a right-wing Populist. There is no such thing, so by definition he is lying.
4
@eldetailz Jimmy Dore is an idiot grifter. People like Krystal Ball and Kyle Kulinski should know better, but they don't get that the real enemy is the Republican Party rather than establishment Dems.
4
@floepiejane Provide an example. If you dig far enough, they tend to be fascists pretending to be populist, like the subject of the video.
3
Indeed. There is no such thing as a right-wing populist. Anyone who claims to be is probably a fascist. No true populist wants to cut taxes for rich people.
3
These days, I can't even tell the difference between the useful idiots and the right-wing trolls pretending to be lefties to depress turnout.
3
Didn't he admit to it? During the primary, the "economic populist" said he couldn't vote for Bernie because he's "too PC," and he defended the stormtroopers in Portland. Forget Zack Morris, Saagar Enjeti is trash.
3
@eddietheberniebro5503 Those things already exist. Saying that they should be higher (i.e., 50% or more for the top bracket) is the question at hand. He has never gone that far that I've seen.
2
@fleebertreatise1063 You can work with people on the right if you agree with them on a specific solution on a specific issue. For example, Bernie worked with Mike Lee on Yemen. Doesn't mean that they are "coalition partners," just that they found a particular issue where they could work together.
2
I used to like her until her Never Biden turn and realizing that she spends almost all of her time going after Democrats. It's one thing when you're trying to draw a contrast in a primary, but ignoring Trump is downright dangerous.
2
@willdasilva4459 And if you try to point out the Supreme Court with these Never Biden morons, they will insist that Biden would name another Scalia, ignoring that he voted against elevating Rehnquist to Chief Justice, worked with Edward Kennedy to keep Bork off, and voted against Thomas, Roberts, and Alito. At this point, I honestly can't tell the difference between useful idiots on the left and right-wing trolls pretending to be left to depress turnout.
2
@eddietheberniebro5503 For someone who claims to be a Bernie supporter, I find it ironic that you are defending a show that props up a candidate who he has said is a danger to our country.
2
I used to like her until it started to become more and more obvious that she is either a useful idiot or a grifter, and I don't think that she is stupid.
2
@sapienssapiens35 I'm starting to think that he is lying with his username. Then again, there are a lot of people who sound a lot like right-wing trolls pretending to be left to depress turnout these days.
2
@japickell Well, if they aren't going to get paid overtime, what do you expect them to do? Then again, your bad-mouthing of working people tells everyone who you really are.
2
@thisjoose6764 Adblock screws over the content creators. I'll deal with a few seconds of right wingers wasting their money if that's what it takes to get quality content.
1
@jennanyx4968 Well, Tucker Carlson gave Saagar Enjeti his start. Doesn't explain Krystal doing it, though.
1
@willdasilva4459 I just hope that their volume online isn't in any real proportion to their real-world existence. I realize they are a brick wall, but I do it just so other people can see how stupid their arguments really are. One of them even tried to insist that I was a "mole" in the Bernie campaign when I rattled off the stuff that I actually did to help him win. If this really are lefties, then there are just a lot of stupid people preventing us from having nice things.
1
@willdasilva4459 My comparison is that they are like the Underpants Gnomes on South Park. When one tried the Pee-wee Herman Defense, I was actually able to explain my step two (get people elected down ballot who will then take over the machinery). There is 200 years of evidence that their way doesn't work. Ours might take a while, but it is the only thing that ever has.
1
@eddietheberniebro5503 No, Saagar supports Trump, because even when he pretends to support left-wing positions on economics, he lets his fascist law and order takes or his racist immigration and social takes have priority. I don't know whether you are a useful idiot or a right winger pretending to be a lefty to depress turnout.
1
@eddietheberniebro5503 And Saagar Enjeti isn't one of them. If you see Trump and his phony populism, and you still support him after all that, you're not to the left on economics. Either that, or economics just don't really matter to you at all.
1
@eddietheberniebro5503 Working with is fine when they come to us. Pretending that we can form a governing coalition with them is a different story.
1
@eddietheberniebro5503 One is voting for his party, and the other is discouraging people from voting for hers. Totally the same.
1
@peoples2296 They might say that they like Medicare for All and increasing the minimum wage, but it doesn't affect their voting at all, so it really means nothing.
1
@kinghassy334 I did something similar a week or two ago when someone insisted that Krystal Ball "goes after establishment Democrats and Republicans equally." Never mind the problem of acting like they are equally bad when only one is ignoring coronavirus and trying to set up a fascist dictatorship, but looking at the "progressive commentator," I had to sift through nine negative Radars about Biden or Democrats to get to one negative Radar about Trump.
1
@ezajurrahman9421 The DNC isn't nearly the enemy as a literal fascist who is making noise about being President for Life is.
1
@ezajurrahman9421 If Biden wins and Democrats win the Senate, Bernie becomes Budget Committee Chair. If Trump wins, we get nothing. Who is the biggest enemy again?
1
@linuxrobotgeek I even got an autographed copy of her book (before realizing it was a glorified transcript of the radars) and took a picture of her with me and my daughter when she came to Philadelphia in February. At first, I thought the criticism of the centrists was a function of talking about a primary. She fooled a lot of us.
1
@cycleforwardtime This is the logical extension of what Republicans have been doing for 50 years: worshipping wealth, achieving power by any way possible, scapegoating people who look different. Whether the people you knew were aware of it or not, this is the conservative project.
1
Me, too. I think that's a lot of us.
