I've known quite a few Ivy League graduates in my day. Quite frankly, I get the feeling that the one thing that they truly learn is how to drop their Ivy League credentials into a conversation.

@charlesandrews2360 My old boss went to Penn. He admitted that he never read an entire book in his four years there. It seems like it is much, much more difficult to get into Ivy League schools than it is to pass classes in them.

@amyh3873 Actually, Ivy League schools aren't allowed to give out athletic scholarships. Oh, it wouldn't surprise me if some nominally qualified people get academic scholarships who happen to play football, but it is strictly speaking not for football.

@amyh3873 That's part of it. I've known quite a few Ivy Leaguers who weren't jocks, and I honestly don't know how they got in. One is a friend who went to Wharton and came to me (whose degree is in religious studies) for help on his tax return. Not exactly the best advertisement.

@amyh3873 I know he wasn't a legacy. I never really asked how he got in, because I figured that would sound mean, aside from the ribbing that i gave him on the fact that he was asking me for tax advice. Everything that I've heard from people who went is that Ivy League schools are hard to get into, but pretty easy to pass once you're there.
