4:41 Speaking of gradualism, my old apartment was a block away from a stop on the Underground Railroad. I live in Pennsylvania, a free state. I didn't know some of the details at the time (quite frankly, my textbook was so Lost Cause despite growing up in a state that only existed because it opposed the Confederacy that it was ridiculous), they said that Pennsylvania enacted "gradual emancipation" in 1780, with any slave alive at the time of passafe not covered, but how that someone who came from a slave state could bring their slaves with them, but if they stayed for six months, they were freed (when Washington was President in Philadelphia, he would rotate slaves for one day less than six months). There were legal slaves in Pennsylvania until 1849. Definitely emphasizing the gradual.
