@roadtomanitoba9753 First of all, she is not a combat veteran. She is a medic. Second of all, many of us who dealt with POWs did the right thing. I treated everyone under my care humanely. I never used stress positions, I made sure that people were fed, and I always made sure they had enough blankets. Anyone who uses the "she's a veteran argument" to defend torture spits in the face of every one of us who did the right thing.

@Brent P I actually dealt with POWs, and I never tortured anyone. She was a medic. If she is a war criminal, that is yet another reason to oppose her.

So, she is conflicted about committing a war crime? There is nothing to be conflicted about. It is either acceptable or not. By hiding behind her veteran's status, she insults every one of us who did the right thing.

@MrRavmoor They are being facetious. You really need to watch the movie "Judgment at Nuremberg." There is a season where Ernst Jamming asks the question whether what they did was acceptable because they thought they were killing in the hundreds instead of the millions. The instant you cross over into defending war crimes, it becomes that much easier to defend torture in the future. It is an insult to the hundreds of thousands who never did.

@SaveTheTrees333 There were other reports that said the same thing. The Army Field Manual prohibited it. So did the Geneva Conventions. There was no reason for her to be ignorant, but even her "clarification" has nothing to do with "it is a war crime and wrong in every circumstance" and only "it is ineffective." If she thought it was effective, how can we be assured that she wouldn't do it?
