That'll really make for an environmental future. /s

If we don't deal with how electricity is produced, the war will be over a different fossil fuel, because we're starting to run out of coal (which is still the primary source of electricity in the United States). If the coal is dealing with the climate crisis, coal actually burns far more CO2 than oil, so clean renewables have to keep pace.

In your fanboy ways, you missed the entire point. It wasn't how well Tesla is run, but the problem of going after public transportation and increasing the number of cars on the road which is supposed to be "making a difference."

@robt8869 Would you like a less sarcastic version? Okay, here goes. That is a stupid idea that will make things much worse. If everyone has to ride automated taxis instead of making mass transit viable, they leads to a greater production of steel, which leads to greater greenhouse gas emissions. Therefore, it is literally the exact opposite of what you want to do regardless of the fuel source. The goal should be less cars, not more.
1
@robt8869 Not in a world where a lot of people are going the same way. Take another moment to dwell on it.
1
@robt8869 Yes, I have. Public transportation is still more viable and more desirable than what you propose. It is also the much better environmental option.
1
@robt8869 If that's what you want to tell yourself.
1
@robt8869 So, you want to say that we should do that because it will be easier for people in wheelchairs to get into their pod in the snow? Well, then, how are they going to get from their house to the pod station in the snow? At least with public transportation, someone is there to help them on and off.
1
@robt8869 Still have to get to where it will let you in. Whether you want to call it a pod or a station or whatever is irrelevant.
1
@robt8869 Taxis don't go right to the front door.
1
@robt8869 You're the one saying that substantially increasing the number of cars on the road in centrally located areas is going to solve transportation problems.
1
@robt8869 Doesn't matter who owns them. What matters is that it still does not reduce the demand for transportation, and having more cars on the road only helps people like Musk.
1
@robt8869 So, instead of "cars," you have "automatic taxis," and more of the latter than the former, which requires materials to produce, which causes greenhouse gases. This is what being flustered because your proposal doesn't withstand the slightest scrutiny looks like. Bye.
