This may be the most easily flustered debater who has ever tried to call in.

They haven't thought things through. That's why the simplest of follow-up questions trips them up.

The next step: Goofy caller: Let's assassinate him. Sam: You are aware that there are other people in the company who would step up to take his place, right. [Silence]

It's not nearly as simple as you or the libertarians pretend it is. That's because of a lack of understanding of economy of scale. The bigger competitor will always be able to undercut the little guy. Always.

@paulparker1425 Amazon can undercut any retailer due to its sheer size.

@paulparker1425 Amazon ran at a loss for over ten years and Jeff Bezos became a billionaire in that time. No mom and pop store can take those kind of losses for that long and survive. If all of their patents expired tomorrow, and a company tried to undercut Amazon, they could just go back to losing money until the other company bites the dust.

@paulparker1425 Okay, at this point, I have to wonder if you are being willfully ignorant of the point. Have they eliminated literally every other retailer on the face of the planet? No, but if anyone tries to undercut Amazon, they can easily beat that competitor because they have enough capital that they can afford to eat losses for years until the competition is left begging for mercy.

@paulparker1425 Oh, well, because some guy on the Internet doesn't shop at Amazon, that means that they don't have a huge grip on the market. What a relief!

@paulparker1425 There was sales growth because he sold at a loss. And it is not as cheap as it used to be. Once Bezos weakened the competition, he was able to increase the prices. Because there was less competition, he was able to drop the hammer. Any company operating under normal means will have to make a profit, but his company was propped up by stocks in a way that no competitor can. Again, they have enough reserves that they can destroy the competition at the drop of a hat, because they don't even need to make a profit. Their market cap alone keeps them afloat.
