@rlg6201 Because international vs. isolation doesn't divide neatly along the left/right spectrum.

I think his honest statement was that he could shoot someone in the middle of Fifth Avenue and not lose any votes. He's closing in on killing more Americans than anyone not named Jefferson Davis, and his base won't budge.

Someone get PV on the case!

@tomuchtosay16 How did that work for Yang, Booker, and Gabbard. One got out before any votes, one got out after failing to break 5% in either of the first two contests, and the other ended up with one delegate in American Samoa after literally moving to New Hampshire and finishing seventh. Don't lump Bernie in with that group.

@Demo5 Corbyn was also hurt by the Brexit Party only running candidates against a Labour incumbent. Most of the seats in the North that the Tories won weren't because people rushed to Johnson (most seats showed Tories either losing a little or gaining a point or two), but Brexit took away Labour votes. He also had the bad luck of being part of the one party that had legitimate regional differences on the most important issue of the election. Clement Atlee himself couldn't have threaded that needle.

@Demo5 Understood. I get the idea of expanding the electorate, and while you might get some never voters or occasional voters, you can't really rely on that model. My main point was that Labour in 2019 was really more of a perfect storm of bad luck than anything mixed with more than a dash of Blair wing sabotage.

They mean a percentage of the vote. Romney got 47%, and Trump got 46%.

@AnotherAlec Any time. The raw number tends to have a recency bias. The record for total votes was Obama in 2008, but the biggest votes as a percentage since states went to a popular vote were LBJ and Nixon.
