@mjchakos1 So, the point is that Arizona is not West Virginia. Manchin had to overcome R +39 to hold his seat. Sinema didn't, and her state has been moving steadily to port for the last 10 years.

@mjchakos1 My point is that Arizona elected someone to her left in 2020, for both Senate and President. Therefore, a primary defeat doesn't automatically give the seat away the way Manchin is the best that people from West Virginia can hope for at this point.

@jarredf95 Because Biden was running against a literal fascist who was ignoring a virus that killed hundreds of thousands. Elections with an incumbent President are always first and foremost a referendum on the incumbent.

@eljoel89 If you primary Manchin, and it is successful, the Democratic nominee will lose. Ben Nelson was to the right of where Joe Manchin is now (unlike Nelson, Manchin was never to the right of any Senate Republican), even though Nebraska was not as far to the right as West Virginia is now. We can replace Sinema with someone better, but the Republican who would win would be worse than Manchin. And considering that the candidate who was his primary challenger in 2018 won the nomination in 2020 and lost by 43 points, that's what nominating someone else will give you.

@mjchakos1 Well, it looks like Sinema is now the most hated statewide elected official in Arizona, and Mark Kelly is doing much better. It's almost like the people of Arizona want someone to her left :-0
