@MrBreeze66 Republicans gutted the Voting Rights Act of 1965 twice in the last decade. What in particular do you find to be a "power grab" other than the Republican thinking that any election where a Democrat wins is illegitimate?

That's not even the best shot. There are much better chances in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, as well as North Carolina depending on the candidate recruitment.

@nodnarbeht9505 Show me where a party in the United States has kicked someone out. Re: what we're getting now, Biden got 40 federal judges in 2021. Do you think that Manchin is signing off on those judges or McConnell is giving them a hearing if he is the majority leader? Do you think that we would have gotten the coronavirus bill last year? I at least know what I speak of when I talk about my frustrations with Manchin. In 2020, the margin Swearingen lost by beat what she got by 16 points. Splitting the vote with another Republican wouldn't make a difference.

@yossarrian If people wanted someone different, they would vote for someone different. Even if you were to somehow get rid of Evil Turtle, nobody better is taking his place. The problem isn't that he sucks (and he does), but that the people of Kentucky keep voting him into office. You make it sound like people are forcing them to cast their votes for him.

@mikecourt13 Lobbyists actually have to do work, which she doesn't seem to like to do. They also have one of two qualifications: knowledge of an issue or good working relationships with Congress. She has neither. If anything, she wants to be a talking head. It's easy and lucrative.

@nodnarbeht9505 No political party in the United States has the ability to ban people. If they did, David Duke would have never won elected office. And they're in the Senate now. It is 50-50 now, making every Democrat the deciding vote. So, how does that actually accomplish anything for getting legislation through now?

@nodnarbeht9505 Trump won West Virginia by 39 points. Manchin's 2018 primary opponent lost the 2020 general election by 43 points. Who do you think is going to actually win West Virginia who is to his left? And don't give me this "he is no different than a Republican" because literally no Republican has ever been to his left in his 11 years in the Senate.

@nodnarbeht9505 The fact that you think that the point is dumb shows that you have no understanding of American political partisan history. Before Barack Obama became President, the most conservative Democratic Senator was always to the right of the most liberal Republican Senator. Nelson was to the right of Snowe from 2007-08 and Lincoln Chafee in 2005-06. Zell Miller was to the right of Chafee from 2000-04, etc. No overlap in ideology is a relatively new phenomenon. Then again, you're pulling stuff out of your butt about parties being allowed to just randomly kick people out, and the more you type, the more you demonstrate your ignorance, so do you just hope that probability will kick in sooner or later?

@nodnarbeht9505 Maybe you should do a Google search and learn about which state you are actually talking about. As far as "the illusion of the majority," the Democratic Party has always been more of a coalition than an ideologically united movement. And I gave examples of things that actually happened. You sound like one of these idiots who would turn down a minimum wage increase if it was $14.99, or if it took any longer than you wanted for it to kick in. It wasn't Republican votes that put cutting the child poverty rate in half last year over the finish line. And you also don't understand the importance of judges, either.

@nodnarbeht9505 And if either one is out, McConnell immediately becomes majority leader, and nothing gets done at all. So, probability still hasn't kicked in yet, because expelling a member from a legislative body is not the same thing as kicking that person out of a party, and the former takes a 2/3 vote.

@nodnarbeht9505 Yes, because autocorrect forgets that there are two Virginias all the time. I've had autocorrect change words, but I've literally never seen it delete words when you spell out an entire word that fits the contexts and works as a state. And you want to know what helps Republicans get into power? They celebrate every accomplishment no matter how small, and if we get 90% of what we want, we spend all of our time complaining about the 10% that we didn't get. That, and the fact that too many of our voters are a) lazy (won't bother to vote), and/or b) have no sense of strategy (think that voting third party is a viable strategy to get what you want). I dealt with tons of people who whined that the stimulus check was $1400 instead of $2000, and others who complained that because they didn't have kids, they didn't get the child tax credit. Then again, I'm not the one who wants to literally hand power to Mitch McConnell and think that's going to suddenly help. Pro tip: the American people don't really care who controls Congress. If things don't happen, they blame the President's party, and you want to guarantee that literally nothing will happen for the next year, which will guarantee that literally nothing will for the next two.

Considering that you also thought the idea of ideological overlap was ridiculous, that shows that, deep down, you know that the word "never" is literally false. I gave examples, and two of the three examples I gave were examples where literally zero Senate Republicans voted to help.

@nodnarbeht9505 Let's just assume, for the sake of argument, that you are right about expulsion (you are not, because expulsion means that someone is kicked out of Congress, not a party). Even if one or both of them don't retaliate by caucusing with the Republicans, that means that Democrats no longer have a majority in Congress, and not only does McConnell get control of the calendar, but Lindsey Graham gets the gavel in the Senate Judiciary Committee. You've watched too much "Prime Minister's Questions." Our system doesn't work that way.

@DaemonJax The Supreme Court struck down term limits for Congress when Arkansas tried it in the 1990s. The only way to remove members of Congress is expulsion. Quite frankly, given the clown show that is the recall process in California, do you really want to see every state do this when some member of Congress does something unpopular whether it's good or bad?
