@akamuzz84 If companies wouldn't want to sell tainted meat, why did so many sell tainted meat before the creation of the FDA, and why does the FDA still find tainted meat?

@Patrick-sg7cm And in your libertarian fantasy land, who is performing the autopsies? Once again, your best-case scenario is that thousands die for the Almighty Market to separate the wheat from the chaff, and it ignores how much work actually gets done to prevent these deaths in the first place. To me, society is much more free when you have much greater confidence that food is safe to eat. Also, you've never heard of food recalls of vegetables? Vegans get food poisoning, too.

A libertarian telling someone else that his/her thinking is too binary is especially rich.

@kylewatson5133 So, you would rather kill people and have their relatives sue than make sure that they don't die from the poison meat in the first place? And without the FDA, how are people going to find out which meat is tainted in the first place?

@kylewatson5133 So, I guess all of the fact that companies no longer allow human corpses into ground beef or sausage when a worker falls in has nothing at all to do with the fact that there are inspectors to make sure that happens. Well, I guess this is what happens when you work backward from the result you want instead of going where the evidence leads you.

@akamuzz84 When the FDA finds out there is tainted meat, they do a recall, and fewer people get sick and die. Getting to the root of the problem instead of letting companies kill people because Freedom. Imagine that!

@Patrick-sg7cm And therein lies the rub. Because you believe that society doesn't exist, everyone has to be an expert in everything in order to survive, and your solution to killer food is to shut the barn door after the cow already got out.

@Patrick-sg7cm Vegans get food poisoning, too.

@akamuzz84 Luckily, that is up to me. That pesky general Welfare thing and all. You aren't getting your war of all against all and return to feudalism.
2
@Patrick-sg7cm How are people going to know that they get sick and die from bad meat?
1
@akamuzz84 To me, freedom is having much greater confidence that I am not unknowingly eating poison.

@Patrick-sg7cm Nobody is stopping you from going off the grid and living to your heart's content.
