  3.  @kevin6293  Hence the "was." The point being that there has been a socially moderate if not libertarian strain for quite some time, especially in the Mountain West. Not that it is dominant, and the main things that unite Republicans are tax cuts and judges, not social issues. Oh, and while not pro-choice, Ted Olson also worked as one of the lead attorneys in the case that ultimately overturned same-sex marriage bans.
