@meghanohalloran729 It's not to refute the theory, only to point out that it isn't automatically the case that people who have the same last name in the same small town are automatically related. I've had that experience, too.

@kellydepaz525 A few days after the last Mothman sighting, a steel beam crackdd on the Silver Bridge, connecting Pt. Pleasant, WV, and Gallipolis, OH. The bridge collapsed, and forty-six people died. Some believers say that the Mothman caused the collapse, and others said he warned about it. There have been no sightings in Pt. Pleasant since 1967, although there have been others in other places.

A pilgrim is someone who is on a journey to find truth, so it fits.

@virgie4715 Point Pleasant is in the Western part of the state, but indeed, Scarberry is a common name. When I lived in Jackson County (northeast of Mason County where the Mothman was), I knew an Army sergeant with that name.

Considering that most of the Mothman tourist attractions came to be after the 2002 movie, I think it's a safe assumption that they didn't make it up in 1966 for tourism, have no sightings after the 1967 Silver Bridge collapse, and sit on it for 35 years.

You should be wearing orange in order to warn hunters. I remember having to wear my uniform on a cross country run because it had the requisite blaze orange and it was during hunting season.
