@jonathanhagenbuch1018 If he didn't want to go to war with Vietnam, why did he sign of on killing the President of South Vietnam days before his own death, and why did he continue and escalate the policy of sending advisers to Vietnam?

@HumbleAstronaut Pretty much anyone can swear a President in during an emergency. Coolidge was sworn in by his dad during a fishing trip after Harding died in 1923.

@theodorekaczynski1683 People tend to mourn the lost potential. That's why you tend to see all the bad things that happened during his term get blamed on Johnson, and the good things Johnson did get credited to Kennedy. The "JFK would have pulled out of Vietnam" argument is just ludicrous.

@ZekromAndYugiAndDrago123 So, the guy who escalated the use of "advisers" in Vietnam and signed off on deposing the President of South Vietnam had almost ended the Cold War? I swear, Kennedy gets the credit for everything good while Johnson gets the blame for everything bad, regardless of who actually did what in those eight years.

While I am skeptical of the single bullet theory, not only was JFK sitting higher, but the seat was further in and Connally was leaning back when he got shot. If we are going to argue against it, we shouldn't make the argument look weaker than it is in order to inflate the argument against it.
